Objective To do a systematic review and meta-analysis for acupuncture combined with repositioning for treatment of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV).
Methods CNKI, VIP, Wan-Fang and Pubmed databases were searched for the randomized controlled trials (RCTs) about acupuncture combined with repositioning for BPPV. The Consolidated Standards of Reporting (CONSORT statement) and international standards (The STRICTA) report were used to evaluate the quality of reports about acupuncture combined with repositioning for BPPV.
Results Fourteen eligible studies were included. Compared with control, the efficiency was significantly improved and the TCM symptom score was reduced significantly in patients treated by acupuncture combined with repositioning for BPPV.
Conclusion Acupuncture combined with repositioning for BPPV has deficient clinical efficiency with good safety in treatment of BPPV.
