Objective | To evaluate the clinical effect of acupuncture therapy in patients with dysfunctional uterine bleeding (DUB): a systematic review and Meta-analysis. |
Methods | A systematic search of all randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and controlled trials (CCTs) related to the effects of acupuncture treatment for DUB in the CNKI, CBM, VIP, Wanfang and Pub Med (October 2015 ago). The quality of the RCTs and CCTs were assessed using Cochrane systematic review. Multiple overall effect of the results of the study was analyzed by using Meta-analysis, and then make heterogeneity evaluation and sensitivity analysis with the Rev Man5. 3 software. |
Result | A total of 10 articles were included. Compared with medicine, acupuncture treatment for DUB had significant higher clinical efficacy rate: RR = 1. 13, 95% Cl [1. 07, 1. 19] (P < 0. 000 1). There were no differences between the acupuncture with Chinese medicine treatment: RR= 1. 08, 95% Cl [0. 96, 1. 20] (P = 0. 19). However, acupuncture combine with Chinese medicine treatment for DUB had significant higher clinical efficacy rate than pure Chinese medicine: RR = 1. 26, 95% Cl [1. 11, 1. 43] (P = 0. 0004). In addition, compared with other acupuncture treatment, there were significantly lower clinical efficacy rate in general acupuncture treatment: RR = 0. 76, 95% Cl (0. 68, 0. 85)] (P < 0. 000 01). |
Conclusion | Acupuncture therapy could improve the clinical efficacy rate in patients with dysfunctional uterine bleeding. At the same time, acupuncture combined with Chinese medicine has higher effect than using simple acupuncture, as well as using acupuncture manipulation. |
