Chinese Journal of Information on Traditional Chinese Medicine. 2009;16(8):107. {{:medias securises:acupuncture:evaluation:neuro-psychiatrie:chen-165974.pdf|[165974].}} ^Objectives |To assess the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture and moxibustion for treatment of vertebrobasilar insufficiency (VEI).| ^Methods| Randomized controlled trails (RCTS) of VBI treated by acupuncture and moxibustion were collected. 8 RCTs were included and assessed. The data was statistically analyzed by Meta-analysis and Funnel plot analysis.| ^Results |8 RCTs were all trials of low methodological quality. Meta-analysis indicated after combination OR=4.36, confidence interval of 95% was 2.88-7.45. The rhombus was located at the right side of the median Line (Z=6.33, P<0.00001), the therapeutic effect in the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the control group. Funnel plot analysis showed skew distribution, indicating the publication bias. | ^Conclusion| The Meta-analysis review showed that acupuncture and moxibustion is effective for VBI. However, the evidence is not strong due to the general low methodological quality. |
